Charles Abbott Associates (CAA) is currently interviewing for a Senior Level Building Inspector for several of our clients in Orange County to perform inspections of commercial, industrial and residential construction.

 

The ideal candidate will possess;

A thorough understanding of the interpretation and application of all California Building Codes. This includes MEP, accessibility and Green codes as well as Title 24 California energy requirements.

 

A familiarity with complex commercial building types such as tilt-up and steel frame construction as well as multifamily dwellings and other construction methods for a variety of construction types.

 

The ability to keep a construction project moving forward while maintaining compliance with the Codes and approved plans.

 

Must be literate in paper and digital plan reading.

 

Responsibilities

Inspects and approves work at each of the required stages of completion and orders corrective action if necessary; makes final inspections; prepares reports of inspections and work completed; maintains digital records such as files and reports regarding inspections, corrections and plan check activities; on occasion performs non-engineering plan reviews.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

5 years of building inspection experience. High School diploma or equivalent education.  Candidates shall have a current California ICC/ICBO Commercial Building Inspector Certification. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.

 

Desired Qualification

Knowledge of standard computer software experience such as Microsoft Office. Familiar with handheld permit tracking devices such as an iPad. Awareness of Permit tracking software such as Energov, Trak It and Open Gov.
